Viscocel a Racing Certainty for Tarmac

Used to upgrade Brands Hatch’s famous racing track, Viscocel SMA fibre further reinforced its reputation as the bitumen modifier for extreme driving conditions. The racing surface, an ultra smooth version of Tarmac’s Masterpave SMA, was laid by Tarmac’s specialist Track Sporting division.

Masterpave was selected for the project, because it was able to deliver the required levels of smoothness, grip and durability demanded by Brands Hatch.

The Kent circuit’s ‘face lift’ involved the addition of a 20mm overlay of Masterpave around the entire 1.2 mile lap, creating a racing surface that provides the ultimate in grip and driveability. Featuring 6mm aggregate, the Masterpave had to be laid to extremely fine tolerances to ensure that racing cars travelling at up to 200 mph are not subjected to uneven or inconsistent driving conditions.
