Excel Fibre Technology manufactures a number of fibre products for various industrial applications. Although the various end uses for Excel fibres vary enormously, they share a common need for a specific material that delivers one or more of the following properties:
- The capability to provide a matrix of fibre that holds a soft mixture together until it sets or is cured.
- The matrix provided by the fibres offering performance benefits to the finished product.
- The ability to act as a water carrier to assist a process operation.
A further benefit of Excel fibres is that they remain inert throughout their lifetime, so that once their primary function has been completed they can still remain harmlessly within a manufactured component or product without posing any threat to the product’s long-term performance or life expectancy.
Some of the industries and applications using Excel Industrial Fibre Products include:
Concrete (manufacture & repair)
Excel fibres are used as a water carrier during the moulding of pre-cast concrete products and in the re-alkalisation and desalination of corroded reinforced concrete structures.
Cementitious/Fibre Cement Boards
Used as a processing aid in cementitious/fibre cement boards, Excel fibre creates a matrix that hold the fine aggregate together until the board material is fully cured.
Ceramic Tile Adhesive
Added to the tile adhesive mix, Excel fibre prevents the adhesive from slumping when used to affix tiles to a wall.
Renders, Mastic and Textured Coatings
In these applications, Excel fibre works to eliminate slump and also provides elasticity to the material when cured or set. This allows the material some degree of movement without the risk of cracking.
Automotive
Excel fibre is used as a binder material used to hold brake lining and gasket material together during manufacturing.
Sound insulation fibres are used in the production of vehicle soundproofing panels.
Foundries
Fibre is used for tundish linings during the moulding process of ferrous and non-ferrous components.
Plastics
Excel fibres are utilised in as a reinforcement material in plastics manufacture, increasing the strength and toughness of the plastic.
Sprayed Fire Coatings
In these applications, the fibre works to hold the material together until it has cured.
General Industrial
Excel fibres are also used for many other general industrial applications where similar properties are required, including masking and sealing tapes, friction components and bitumen coatings.
