New Joist Hangers from Excel

Excel Building Solutions has launched a range of beam hangers and connectors for its Engineered I Beam joists, studs and rafters.  Manufactured in galvanised mild steel, the hangers and connectors provide a solution for virtually every beam installation requirement and include top and face fixing, universal, flexible and skewed configurations for beam-to-beam or beam-to-masonry connections.  The range also includes adjustable ridge and eaves connectors.  Hangers/connectors are available in depths of 200mm - 500mm, capable of accommodating all beam depths in the Engineered I Beam range.

BBA-approved Engineered I Beams provide very high levels of structural strength, while being lighter and therefore easier to handle than solid timber.  The strength of the beams enables long, clear spans to be achieved without the need for intermediate supports.

The beams are manufactured from flanges of slow grown, sustainable Swedish whitewood, joined by a web of 8mm thick Engineered I Beam K40 structural board, providing a construction that delivers outstanding strength and rigidity.  It also ensures that the beams do not warp or twist, even in lengths of up to 12m and the thin web section minimises cold bridging.

Using between 40% and 65% less raw material than conventional timber building methods, Engineered I Beams also produce less formaldehyde than their solid timber equivalents.  The Engineered I Beam range includes wall studs from 150mm to 300mm deep and beams for rafters and floor joists ranging from 150mm to 500mm.  All beams are available in a range of standard lengths up to 12m.
