Warmcel approved by Energy Saving Trust
Date: 19 June 2003
Warmcel RF and Warmcel 500 loft insulation, manufactured by Excel Building Solutions of Ebbw Vale, have been approved by the Energy Saving Trust as proven energy saving measures acceptable for use in schemes adhering to the Government’s Energy Efficiency Commitment (EEC).
Manufactured from 100% recycled newspaper, the Warmcel range of loft insulation products has extremely low embodied energy, requiring far less energy to produce than any other mainstream insulation material, and its inherent environmental credentials are allied to excellent thermal performance.
With an impressive thermal conductivity value (k) of only 0.036 W/mK, Warmcel’s ‘in use’ performance is further enhanced by its ability to create a high level of airtightness to help prevent thermal convection currents and, consequently, heat loss. This produces typical U values of around 0.15 W/m2K for a 250mm deep fill. By helping to reduce heating demand, Warmcel plays a major part in reducing household CO2 emissions.
BBA approved, Warmcel loft insulation products are also safe to handle and do not appear on the COSSH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) register. They do not contain any added formaldehyde and are free from CFCs, volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and other toxic substances.
The Energy Saving Trust (EST) was established as part of the UK Government's response to the 1992 Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro, addressing worldwide concerns on environmental issues such as climate change and global warming.
