Excel Launches Improved Warmcel Installation System

Excel Building Solutions has introduced a more powerful fibre delivery system for the installation of the company's high performance Warmcel fibre insulation.  Used by Excel's registered installers to insulate timber frame walls, floors and warm roofs, as well as conventional lofts, the new system has a higher fibre throughput rate to deliver optimum density of the installed fibre.  This ensures the thermal insulation levels are maximised as well as accelerating the speed of the installation process for installers.

The new delivery system is compatible with Excel's installation nozzle for insulating timber frame closed panels or can be used with a lance for insulating closed panel 'warm roofs' or with a hose for the insulation of open floors and lofts.

The new delivery system features quadruple agitators to ensure the Warmcel fibre is fully 'broken up' and positive displacement blowers to achieve a throughput rate of 1.5 tonnes per hour; around three times that of the largest delivery system previously available in the range.  Warmcel fibre is fed into the unit's flip-top hopper, which has a capacity ranging from 0.44m³ to 0.84m³.

The Warmcel range of high performance insulation is manufactured from 100% recycled waste newspaper, with extreme resistance to fire achieved through the addition of simple inorganic compounds, enabling it to comfortably meet the fire protection standards required for timber-frame construction.

Warmcel is also formulated to protect it against any potential hazards that may be encountered in use.  It is resistant to biological and fungal attack, treated against insects and is unattractive to vermin.

With an impressive thermal conductivity value (k) of only 0.036 W/mK, delivering excellent insulation performance, Warmcel’s performance is further enhanced, in practice, by its ability to create a high level of air-tightness to prevent thermal convection currents.

Warmcel has extremely low embodied energy, requiring far less energy to produce than any other mainstream insulation material.  It does not contain any added formaldehyde and is free from CFCs, volatile organic compounds (VOCs) or other toxic substances.  And by reducing heating demand, Warmcel also plays a major part in reducing household CO₂ emissions.

When, eventually, Warmcel insulation is removed from a building, it can be recycled again or disposed of safely, without creating toxic waste or biodegradability problems.  Warmcel is also harmless to other common building components such as copper pipes, electric cabling and metal nail-plate fasteners.
