TRADIS at Ecobuild 2006
22 February 2006

Excel Building Solutions is demonstrating the award-winning TRADIS range of factory manufactured wall panels, floor cassettes and roof plates at Ecobuild 2006.  TRADIS combines the benefits of rapid on-site construction, excellent build quality and minimal waste with ultra high insulation performance and excellent sustainability credentials, using component materials from recycled or sustainable sources that are free from harmful or toxic substances, such as VOCs and CFCs, or added formaldehyde.

Insulated with Warmcel 500 high performance insulation, manufactured from recycled newspaper, TRADIS also benefits from EVT Technology, which ensures that any moisture that gets into the wall structure migrates to the external atmosphere, thereby preventing interstitial condensation and safeguarding the integrity of the structure for the lifetime of the building.

With the construction of a complete house shell taking less than a day, TRADIS offers the automatic creation of a room-in-the-roof; an in-built service zone for the installation of pipework and wiring; and large, clear spans offering reduced foundation costs and maximum flexibility for room layout.

In addition to excellent sound and thermal insulation, offering typical running costs for a family sized house of under £2 per week, occupants of a building constructed from TRADIS also benefit from a healthy living environment, safeguarded by TRADIS’s EVT Technology.

Importantly, TRADIS demonstrates outstanding protection against fire. Warmcel 500-insulated TRADIS panels, manufactured using appropriate Excel-approved fire resistant sheathing, are accredited by the Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB) in relation to fire resistance.  (The LPCB is part of BRE Certification).

Manufactured as fully closed panels, cassettes and roof plates, TRADIS uses a frame of composite 'I' beams, sheathed externally with Panelvent sheathing board and, internally, with Paneline.

Panels are insulated with Warmcel 500 using the TurboFill dry-injection system.  This system features a nozzle akin to those used on refuelling rigs seen in Grand Prix Formula 1 pit lanes, which is docked with the panel or cassette by means of pre-drilled access holes, through which the Warmcel 500 is injected.  An ingenious pressure sensing system ensures the void is completely filled to the correct density for optimum performance and to avoid settlement.

Combining extreme strength with light weight, standard panels can be manufactured to span lengths of up to 12m, which enables large, open spaces to be constructed.  Their light weight is also beneficial in reducing foundation requirements for a building.
