Excel Safeguards Quality with New Assurance Scheme
26 January 2007

Excel Building Solutions has launched a quality assurance scheme for its Warmcel installers to ensure the highest levels of quality and accountability for its customers. The scheme will be regulated by the British Board of Agrément (BBA) who will carry out stringent, random checks to ensure the Excel trained installers are offering a consistently first-rate service.

Excel developed the new Quality Assurance scheme with the backing of its registered installers to provide added value and additional peace of mind that the work will be carried out by a qualified expert. The aim of the scheme is to provide a way of monitoring the performance of Warmcel installers and to ensure that they continue to meet the standards of service and application demanded by Excel and its customers.

As members of the scheme, Warmcel installers will be subject to head office audits and accompanied site inspections carried out by trained BBA surveyors. The inspections will begin in March 2007, although the scheme will be in operation from the beginning of the year. Anyone who is found to have fallen below the required standard will immediately have to complete further training with Excel or be removed from the official list of Warmcel installers.

Manufactured entirely from recycled newspaper, Warmcel cellulose fibre insulation is created using a purely mechanical process to transform the newspaper back into its raw fibrous state, suitable for use as building insulation. As such, it has extremely low embodied energy. It is also free from CFCs, VOCs or other harmful substances and has zero ozone depletion potential (ODP). This has resulted in Warmcel achieving an excellent BRE environmental rating.

Warmcel’s very low thermal conductivity delivers excellent insulation performance, enabling revised Part L Building Regulations requirements to be met more easily. In practice, Warmcel’s performance is further enhanced by its ability to create a high level of airtightness to prevent thermal convection currents. By reducing heating demand, Warmcel plays a major part in reducing household CO2 emissions.
